San Diego’s Urban Water to Achieve 25% Use Reduction

SACRAMENTO, April 1 (Reuters) – California Governor Jerry Brown, acting in the face of a devastating, multiyear drought, ordered the first statewide mandatory water restrictions on Wednesday, directing cities and communities to reduce usage by 25 percent. San Diego County’s 2015 Water Use Restrictions

The Water Authority’s Board of Directors on May 14 adopted a set of measures to help local water agencies meet state mandated water-use reduction targets by restricting irrigation of ornamental landscapes to no more than two days a week across the region and immediately boosting regional conservation and outreach efforts. In addition, the Board established local urban and agricultural water supply cutbacks based on reduced water deliveries from the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and set penalties for local agencies that exceed their supply allocations from the Water Authority.
